MONDAY, July 1st at 7:00pm: An Island Miracle of Water

In the Island Kingdom of Tonga, the challenges are much different than they are on the urban and cosmopolitan continents.  The challenges are elemental: water, fire, earth.

In the first tale from Cale's upcoming collection A Trio Of Island Tales, she explores a series of miracles in this Polynesian paradise:  a holy man comes to an island where the sea eats away at the graves of their ancestors year after year.  When he performs a miracle, is it volcanic evolution?  or the power of the spirit?  Come hear the draft of this work in progress and see for yourself.

Presented live in voice.

WEDNESDAY, June 26th at 7:00PM: THE TAO OF POOH Concludes!

“Do you really want to be happy? You can begin by being appreciative of who you are and what you've got.”

“Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything.”

“We don't need to shift our responsibilities onto the shoulders of some deified Spiritual Superman, or sit around and wait for Fate to come knocking at the door. We simply need to believe in the power that's within us, and use it. When we do that, and stop imitating others and competing against them, things begin to work for us.”
― Benjamin Hoff, The Tao of Pooh

Kayden and Caledonia dust off their Chis for one more week of wisdom from the Uncarved Block that is Pooh Bear, with the help of author Benjamin Hoff.  Presented Live in Voice.

TUESDAY, June 25th at 7:00PM: More from THE CITY AND THE STARS

Gyro continues Alvin's journey on an Earth we hardly recognize in a future long ahead ... are these issues that are alien to us today? Gyro will share another episode tonight, and then be back in July to conclude the adventure live, in voice!

Arthur C. Clarke was born in Minehead in 1917. During the Second World War he served as a radar instructor for the RAF, rising to the rank of flight-lieutenant. After the war, he entered King’s college, London taking, in 1948, his Bsc in physics and mathematics with first class honours. One of the most respected of all science-fiction writers, he has won Kalinga Prize, the Aviation Space-Writers’ Prize and the Westinghouse Science Writing Prize. He also shared an Oscar nomination with Stanley Kubrick for the screenplay of 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was based on his story.

What do Sci-Fi Fiction Fans say about this classic novella by Arthur C. Clarke?

"This is speculative fiction at its finest, and my favorite Clark novel now."
"Clarke's story is complex and layered and he builds a future which captures the reader's interest."

MONDAY, June 24th at 7pm: More from A TRIO OF MY FATHER'S TALES

"It was a simple convoy trip over the mountains, if 'simple' can be considered an apt description for any military convoy.  During wartime, convoys are well organized groups of ships or motor vehicles traveling together for mutual support, often with armed defense support from aircraft.  There was a war being fought, but the convoy was stateside, not in Suwon or Wonju.  The Korean War raged miles away across the Pacific Ocean, but the only adversary this convoy was trying to navigate around was civilian taxpayers."

Cale presents from her current work in progress ... two Korean War era stories stories of stateside adventures with an Army Sergeant and his Company Lieutenant, of whom it was said, "Militarily, he was the adversary within, and he was in charge."

Flying Down to Couer d'Alene and The Skunk War presented live in voice by Caledonia Skytower.

THURSDAY June 13th at 7pm: POE'S CHILDREN

From the incomparable master of horror and suspense comes an electrifying collection of contemporary literary horror, with stories from twenty-five writers representing today’s most talented voices in the genre.

Horror writing is usually associated with formulaic gore, but New Wave horror writers have more in common with the wildly inventive, evocative spookiness of Edgar Allan Poe than with the sometimes-predictable hallmarks of their peers. Showcasing this cutting-edge talent, Poe’s Children now brings the best of the genre’s stories to a wider audience. Featuring tales from such writers as Neil Gaiman and Jonathan Carroll, Poe’s Children is Peter Straub’s tribute to the imaginative power of storytelling. Each previously published story has been selected by Straub to represent what he thinks is the most interesting development in our literature during the last two decades.

Crossing boundaries and packed with imaginative chills, Poe’s Children bears all the telltale signs of fearless, addictive fiction.

"Here is a tribute to my father with three of those stories: The Little Lord Fauntleroy Suit, Flying Down to Cour D'Alene, and The Skunk War."
