MONDAY December 30th at 7pm: THE PLANETS ~ CLASSIC SCIENCE FICTION

We challenged Gyro to dig deep in his vast Science Fiction Library and come up with a story for every planet in our Solar System.  He did it!  The magical tour continues . . .

TONIGHT: "DESERTION"
Why would every man sent to Jupiter in a modified Jovian form forsake contact with Earth and wander off into the hellish maelstrom?
Kent Fowler is the head of Dome 3 which is part of the Jovian Survey Commission. Already he has sent four men out on to the surface of Jupiter and a fifth man, Harold Allen, stood in front of him. Fowler warns Allen of the importance of the mission and not to go on any rescue mission. The hostile environment of Jupiter doesn't permit humans to walk its surface and so a biological converter is used to transform humans into Lopers, the highest form of native life. In the Loper form, he is able to use one hundred percent of his brain. He compared his old life, and its limitations with his new form and feels a higher call of destiny, a greatness of adventure.

THURSDAY, December 19th at 7:00pm: Duel In The Snow (basis of the movie A Christmas Story)

DUEL IN THE SNOW
(RED RYDER NAILS THE CLEVELAND STREET KID)
In 1983, a low-budget film titled A Christmas Story was released during the holiday season

with little fanfare written for the screen by the humorist and radio personality Jean Shepherd, it offered an affectionate but also slyly satirical portrait of a midwestern family's rites of Christmas during the Depression.

WEDNESDAY, December 18th at 7PM: CHRISTMAS IN THE CLASSICS

Caledonia digs deep into her library and Project Gutenberg to find moments from classic bits of literature where Christmas is memorably celebrated.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Mark Twain, and who knows?  Maybe more!  Maaaybe, even a visit from the great green one himself!  The Grinch! Take a stroll though public domain and the holidays ... mulled wine provided.

TUESDAY, December 17th at 7PM: A FAERIE CHRISTMAS!

'Tis the season for flights of fancy, and who knows more about flight and fancy than our own Faerie!  She's decking out fro the Holidays and collecting stories to share.  Enjoy an hour of stories with the fluttery-winged one herself, celebrating the holidays!

MONDAY, December 16th at 7PM: VIEWS OF CHRISTMAS IN 100 WORDS

We know it looks like this now, but . . .
What would the holiday season be without a few sleighs on fire?  It would be a holiday without the wry, and sometimes slightly bent insights of Crap Mariner!  Where would the fun be in that?  He keeps us honest!
. . . what will it look like once Crap's done?

He made a vow ... 100 words a day until the day he died - INCLUDING holidays!  He's not dead yet.  Come and enjoy an hour of Crap Mariner viewing the holidays from every ludicrous view, banging them on his desk, and standing them back up - slightly rumpled and somewhat recognizable.

Presented live in voice.

Barry Laverty, MD, is looking forward to his first Christmas in the cozy village of Ballybucklebo. They even find time to play Santa Claus to a struggling single mother with a sick child and not enough money in the bank. Snow is rare in Ulster, and so are miracles, but that doesn't mean they never happen!

WEDNESDAY, December 11th at 7pm: SIMPLE MIRACLES OF CHRISTMAS

In this season of "giving" we are bombarded with images and adds of excess - so called "bargains" and "savings" designs to entice us to "spend! spend! spend!"

Tonight, Caledonia shares stories from around the world of simplicity, ingenuity and faith to counter the "wretched excesses" of our times, where "stuff" masks the true meaning of the season.
