SUNDAY, January 19th at 1:30pm: TEA TIME at Baker Street

A STUDY IN SCARLET continues with Part 3: Grab a 'cuppa and join them at the fireside ~ the game is a foot!

A STUDY IN SCARLET  was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new characters, "consulting detective" Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later became two of the most famous characters in literature.

The story, and its main characters, attracted little public interest when it first appeared. Only 11 complete copies of Beeton's Christmas Annual 1887 are known to exist now and they have considerable value.Although Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories featuring Holmes, A Study in Scarlet is one of only four full-length novels in the original canon. The novel was followed by The Sign of the Four, published in 1890. A Study in Scarlet was the first work of detective fiction to incorporate the magnifying glass as an investigative tool

A STUDY IN SCARLET will be presented in four parts, live in Voice.

MONDAY, JANUARY 13th at 7:00PM: MIRACLES: A TRIO OF ISLAND TALES

Caledonia presents a preview of her latest story collection, soon to be released.

Belief is essential part of life.  If there is a through-line to most of my work, it is the essential need for all of us to believe in something beyond ourselves.  It does not matter what.  Simply believe.  By believing in something beyond yourself, you learn to better understand your world: to believe in yourself.

Belief is woven into all three stories in Miracles: A Trio of Island Tales.  These stories are fictionalizations of family stories shared by my collaborator, Saane Tome.  She is a native born Tongan and devout Christian. The power of her stories is moving and undeniable.  You may or may not share her belief system, and that does not really matter.  It is hard to hear her stories and not recognize the essential power of them.

A STUDY IN SCARLET continues with Part 2: Grab a 'cuppa and join them at the fireside ~ the game is a foot!

A STUDY IN SCARLET  was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new characters, "consulting detective" Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later became two of the most famous characters in literature.

Conan Doyle wrote the novel at the age of 27 in less than three weeks. As a general practice doctor in Southsea, Portsmouth, he had already published short stories in several magazines of the day, such as the periodical London Society. The story was originally titled A Tangled Skein, and was eventually published by Ward Lock & Co. in Beeton's Christmas Annual 1887, after many rejections. The author received £25 in return for the full rights (although Conan Doyle had pressed for a royalty instead).

A STUDY IN SCARLET will be presented in four parts, live in Voice.

Corwyn and Caledonia are back for a New Year of TEA TIME, beginning with the first Holmesian adventure ever written: A STUDY IN SCARLET  Grab a 'cuppa and join them at the fireside for another thrilling adventure

A STUDY IN SCARLET  was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new characters, "consulting detective" Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later became two of the most famous characters in literature.

Conan Doyle wrote the story in 1886, and it was published the next year. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes to Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colorless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it." (A "study" is a preliminary drawing, sketch or painting done in preparation for a finished piece.)

A STUDY IN SCARLET will be presented in four parts, live in Voice..
