Sunday at 1:30pm: TEA TIME at Baker Street

Published in 1927, THE CASEBOOK OF SHERLOCK HOLMES is the final collection of Holmesian short stories penned by Arthur Conan Doyle.  Corwyn, Kayden and Cale continue their mysterious tour of this canon of work TODAY: "The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier"

In January 1903, at Baker Street, James M. Dodd sees Holmes about a missing friend, Godfrey Emsworth. Dodd and Emsworth served together in the Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa during the Second Boer War, which has only just ended. Emsworth was wounded. Dodd has not seen him since the report of his injury, and "not a word for six months and more". Since Emsworth has always been such a good friend, Dodd believes something is amiss.

THURSDAY May 29th at 7pm: SCYLLA and CHARYBDIS pt.2

The story of Scylla and Charybdis
Two maidens turned monster - and the deadly peril found in the watery grave between them. Scylla begins as a beautiful but lonely orphan raised by wolves. Nisus, the rightful but unlucky king of Egypt, falls in love and weds her - not realizing that it might be impossible to tame the wild ways of the wolf-girl. Betrayal leads to Scylla's transformation into a sea monster that is half Nereid and half wolf pack. One half lures; the other devours. Charybdis becomes accursed through her own caprice. Having spent her youth as a spoiled princess, she is transformed into a monster as greedy for seawater as she had been for the objects of her desire. Twice a day she drinks the tide, and any ships sailing in it. Twice a day she spits it out again, corpses and all. This is the exciting saga of Scylla and Charybdis and the mayhem caused when they are brought together in a swirling, narrow passage through which many ships and men must pass. It tells of those who meet their death there and of the perils encountered by the hero Ulysses in that deadly strait.

TUESDAY, May 27th at 7pm: A DOG'S PURPOSE Begins!

This is the remarkable story of one endearing dog’s search for his purpose over the course of several lives. More than just another charming dog story, "A Dog’s Purpose" touches on the universal quest for an answer to life's most basic question: Why are we here?

Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden-haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey’s search for his new life’s meaning leads him into the loving arms of 8-year-old Ethan. During their countless adventures Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog.

But this life as a beloved family pet is not the end of Bailey’s journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders—will he ever find his purpose?

W. Bruce Cameron's adventure, presented by Kayden Oconnell and Caledonia Skytower in voice.

MONDAY, May 26th at 7pm: "HUNTER SL THOMPSON"

Crap Mariner celebrates a 20th century writing legend.  It was said of the American Journalist and Author: "the true voice of Thompson is revealed to be that of American moralist ... one who often makes himself ugly to expose the ugliness he sees around him." (Hari Kunzru)

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to a middle-class family, Thompson had a turbulent youth after the death of his father left the family in poverty. He was unable to formally finish high school as he was incarcerated for 60 days after abetting a robbery. He subsequently joined the United States Air Force before moving into journalism. He traveled frequently, including stints in California, Puerto Rico, and Brazil, before settling in Aspen, Colorado, in the early 1960s.

Live in voice, in so many ways!

SUNDAY, May 25th at 1:30pm: TEA TIME at Baker Street!

Published in 1927, THE CASEBOOK OF SHERLOCK HOLMES is the final collection of Holmesian short stories penned by Arthur Conan Doyle.  Corwyn, Kayden and Cale continue their mysterious tour of this canon of work TODAY: "The Adventure of the Illustrious Client."

Sir James Damery comes to see Holmes and Watson about his illustrious client's problem (the client's identity is never revealed to the reader, although Watson finds out at the end of the story). It would seem that old General de Merville's young daughter Violet has fallen madly in love with the roguish and sadistic Austrian Baron Adelbert Gruner, whom both Damery and Holmes are convinced is a murderer. The victim was his last wife, of whose murder he was acquitted owing to a legal technicality and a witness's untimely death. She met her end in the Splügen Pass.

Presented live in voice, in the Seanchai fireside room (downstairs).

WEDNESDAY, May 21st at 7PM: FLORA & ULYSSES ~ The Exciting Conclusion!

HOLY BAGUMBA!  The great adventure is about to come to its thrilling conclusion!  Will Flora reconcile with Ulysses arch-nemesis: her mother ?!  Will Ulysses reach his full superhero potential?  And what will Mary Anne have to say about all this?

Holy unanticipated occurrences! A cynic meets an unlikely superhero in a genre-breaking new novel by master storyteller Kate DiCamillo.

It begins, as the best superhero stories do, with a tragic accident that has unexpected consequences. The squirrel never saw the vacuum cleaner coming, but self-described cynic Flora Belle Buckman, who has read every issue of the comic book Terrible Things Can Happen to You!, is the just the right person to step in and save him. What neither can predict is that Ulysses (the squirrel) has been born anew, with powers of strength, flight, and misspelled poetry — and that Flora will be changed too, as she discovers the possibility of hope and the promise of a capacious heart.

Caledonia Skytower presents, live in voice.
