TUESDAY, December 1st at 7 pm: MAMA MAKES UP HER MIND Concludes

We'll gather on the front porch one more time, and travel to Mama's world through author Bailey White.

White’s indelible vignettes of Southern eccentricity have entranced millions who have heard her read them on NPR. Mama Makes Up Her Mind is as sweetly intoxicating as a mint julep and as invigorating as a walk in Whites own overgrown garden.
One last round of stories on the "Dangers of Southern Living."

Kayden, Trolley, and Caledonia, live in voice.

MONDAY, November 30th at 7pm: MURDER WILL IN concludes.. plus more!

SUNDAY, November 29th at 1:30pm ~ TEA TIME Celebrations with Kayden & Caledonia

by Randy Bish, editorial cartoonist for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Holiday transitions can be awkward. Especially in the United States, making the transition between Thanksgiving and Christmas can be awkward and fraught with confusion.  Is it too early for the tree?  Too late?  What is the shelf-life of left over turkey?

Kayden and Caledonia present an hour of stories to help you laugh at it all, and easy the transition from "autumnal" to "wintry."

Stories from Bailey White to Washington Irving, presented live.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26th at 10am: ALICE'S RESTAURANT MASSACREE

ALICE'S RESTAURANT REVISITED
The song is one of Arlo Guthrie's most prominent works, based on a true incident from his life that began on Thanksgiving Day 1965 with a citation for littering, and ended with the refusal of the U.S. Army to draft him because of his conviction for that crime. The ironic punch line of the story is that, in the words of Guthrie, "I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench 'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough to join the Army - burn women, kids, houses and villages - after bein' a litterbug." The final part of the song is an encouragement for the listeners to sing along, to resist the draft, and to end war.

The "song" is in fact a spoken monologue, presented by Shandon Loring today for your listening pleasure or just to groan at and be Thankful when it's over.

WEDNESDAY, November 25th at 7 PM: THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF ROALD DAHL

Faerie concludes "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar" and her exploration of the short stories of Roald Dahl.

“It was slowly beginning to dawn upon Henry that nothing is any fun if you can get as much of it as you want. Especially money.”

― Roald Dahl, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More

Dahl's short stories are known for their unexpected endings and his children's books for their unsentimental, macabre, often darkly comic content, featuring villainous adult enemies of the child characters.

Presented live in voice.

Kayden, Trolley, and Cale settin' on the front porch,
spinnin' yarns about life with "Mama"
More from Bailey White's hilarious adventures in the "Dangers of Southern Living."

This week: Sleep & Prayer, Alligator, Mama's Memoirs, Madness Through Mirrors, The Lips of a Stranger, Flying Saucers, An Interesting Life, and Teaching Luther to Cook.

Welcome to the unique world of Bailey White. Her aunt Belle may take you to see her bellowing pet alligator. Her uncle Jimbuddy may appall you with his knack for losing pieces of himself. Most of all, you may succumb utterly to the charms of Bailey’s mama, who will take you to a juke joint so raunchy it scared Ernest Hemingway or tuck you into her antique guest bed that has the disconcerting habit of folding up on people while they sleep.

SUNDAY, November 22nd: MORE STORIES - Sublime to Silly

Two sessions today: one of a work in progress, and another as its antidote.

@ 2PM ~ TWO HOUSES Concludes in the Seanchai Fireside Room
Caledonia shares the WIP conclusion of her short story "Two Houses": a young couple honeymoon in Ireland where strange and frightening dreams of the past disturb their future.  The mystery centers on the fates of two houses, one thriving and one decayed.

The story will be part of A TRIO OF IRISH TALES, which is set to be released by the end of the month for Kindle and in Paperback.

@ 6PM ~ MAGICLAND STORYTIME:  FORTUNATELY THE MILK
"...the silliest book I ever wrote" quoth author Neil Gaiman.

Caledonia shares Gaiman's hysterical adventure in misdirection. This is quite possibly the most exciting adventure ever to be written about milk since Tolstoy's epic novel War and Milk. Also it has aliens, pirates, dinosaurs and wumpires in it (but not the handsome, misunderstood kind), also a never-adequately-explained-bowl-of-piranhas, not to mention a Volcano God.

Presented live, in voice.

WEDNESDAY, November 18th at 7 PM: More from THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF ROALD DAHL

Faerie shares more stories from one of the 20th century's notable storytellers, Roald Dahl, and his collection "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar."

“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.”
My Uncle Oswald
“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
